We’ve teamed up with the HIV Consumer Alliance of Western Australia, WA's leading peer-to-peer HIV support organisation for People Living with HIV (PLHIV). Like us, they bring common-sense grit to public policy discussion and development.
For too long, public policy development and power have been hoarded, firmly gripped in the hands of vested interests and organisations committed to maintaining the status quo by leaders incentivised to ignore the people they claim to serve. Worse, democracy in community groups is being eliminated by health representatives who claim to represent grassroots people but are incentivised to represent someone else.
We’re here to flip that. QuarkBeat and the HIV Consumer Alliance of WA, as unfunded volunteers, are driven by a mission to build community and spark hope at the grassroots, step by small step. ‘We are only here to help,’ we say, offering a fresh, community-led approach that prioritises voices with lived experience over entrenched power structures.
